Donald Trump is a Lying Hypocrite: Ask the man who sold him his pianos
The American President consistently failed to pay his bills, but that doesn't stop him bullying others to pay their dues
“They’ve got to pay their bills”, Donald Trump told reporters while bragging about threatening NATO members to commit to five percent defence expenditure.
This is rich coming from a guy who cheated suppliers while running his disastrous casino ventures in Atlantic City.
Ask Michael Diehl, the owner of a small family business supplying pianos to private and corporate customers across New Jersey.
Mr Diehl’s firm sold $100,000 worth of pianos to the Trump Taj Mahal and other casinos in 2016. Trump simply refused to pay, offering only 70 cents on the dollar, thereby cheating Mr Diehl out of $30,000. That’s no small hit, as the owner of any SME will tell you.
During one of their Presidential campaign clashes Hilary Clinton challenged Trump about how he stiffed suppliers. His nonchalant response? — “Maybe he didn't do a good job and I was unsatisfied with his work.”
Understandably, Mr Diehl took that personally, telling The Independent, in 2016:
“I’m one of the many small business owners who’ve been used by Trump, exploited and forced to suffer a loss because of his corporation’s shady practices.”
Mr Diehl, who died in 2024 aged 97, was a popular figure all along the Jersey Shore. He rented Bruce Springsteen his first guitar in 1956 and gave The Boss his first lessons. Diehl’s Freehold Music Centre went on to become one of the most popular musical instrument outlets in New Jersey, counting numerous prominent musicians and producers among his clients.
How long will it be before America wakes up to the fact that it has installed a mendacious grifter to the most powerful position on earth? Is it any wonder that so many musicians refuse to allow Trump to play their music at his rallies?
Do you know you’re a hypocritical creep?
No, but you hum it and I’ll play along…
Hi Tom
Did you know that i worked for New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement as a state invedtigator before joining the Bureau
As it happens, i imspected and worked on both the Marina and the Taj Mahal.
Basically they were poorly built and poorly operated. TRUMP was never there and certainly didnt know how to run the casinos. They were all about flash and no substance. The day before the Marina opened and we were inspecting slot machines and table games, there were literally no WALLS around the casino itself. There were maybe 15 Ferarri parked adjacent to the pits around the casino floor. Lots of big flash and no substance. Trump decided to bring in retirees with long lines waiting for inexpensive giveaways. I know my folks enjoyed visiting the Marina because they gave away things that look expensive, but are not. Things like cheap dressed up porcelain dolls, all kinds of low end junk with his name on it: blankets, robes, etc. Like Trump they looked expensive from afar, but super cheap! I may still have one or two of those dolls there.
Trump was known as a total deadbeat who ripped off the small businesses in the area trying to develop business. He simply didnt pay and they folded. The whole place was designed to be all yacht boys, but no yachts. I did manage to have a meal at his IVANA's restaurant, and it was both expensive but lousy. My parents had amassed a lot of his branded cheap garbage. Fortunately, that garbage is mostly gone due to Sandy devastating that area and my home. The next time im there, ill see if i might have trump play money we used on the opening " play nights" But he has a terrible reputation for not paying.
Keep well!
